Go ahead… try to find good Hawaiian midi files on the web.  There just aren't many out there.  So that's where I come in…  I'll be posting some Hawaiian midis I have sequenced myself.  If you have sequencing software you can download and save the midis, mute the melody track and use them for accompaniment tracks to sing or play along with.  I just have a few ready now, but I'll be adding more as time goes on...

Hawaii Aloha Here's a great old traditional song that deserves a page all it's own.

Please note… The next two Alex Anderson songs are actually accompaniment tracks.  There is no melody line (you sing it).  In "Lei of Stars" you can learn the tune from the instrumental interlude.  The interlude in "On a Coconut Island" plays the verse, not the chorus. You're on your own.  Maybe Napster will be back online soon and you can catch an MP3 of it there...

Lei of Stars

Lyrics:

I'll weave a lei of stars for you to wear on nights like this.
Each time you wear my lei of stars I'll greet you with a kiss.
The moon is green with jealousy and all the planets too…
For when you wear my lei of stars the fairest one is you.

On a Coconut Island

Lyrics:

On a coconut Island, if I could be a castaway with you…
On a coconut island, there'd be a lot of things for us to do…
I would sit for a while and just gaze into your baby eyes of blue…
Then I'd walk for a mile and come running back to be with you.

There the waves would make a pair of willing slaves of you and me forever…
And we'd laze for days and days and never gaze out where the ships go sailing by…
On a coconut island, if I could be a castaway with you…
On a coconut island, we'd make a dream or two come true.
