The pictures in this album are from our 7th trip to the islands during the week of May 11-17, 1998.  Our good friends, Paka (Patricia)  & Kele (Del),  and Bobbie & Andy were cruising to Hawaii from Mexico onboard Royal Caribbean's "Legend of the Seas."  They invited us to join them in Honolulu, where their 10-day cruise ended and spend a few days exploring Oahu.  We were excited to be going back to Paradise, and even more excited about being able to share the experience with our good friends.

We flew to Honolulu on Sunday, May 11.  Our friends' cruise was due to dock there early Wednesday morning.  This trip we stayed at the Outrigger Prince Kuhio Hotel.  We were on the top floor which provided a great view of the surrounding city and the Pacific.  By staying on the top floor we were "Voyager's Club" members which provided several perks, not the least of which was breakfast, lunch, and sandwiches & snacks for supper.

Kalina on our lanai shortly after our arrival.

The view of the beach from our lanai.  The church in the picture is St. Augustine's Catholic Church.  What a beautiful church!  About 3 years after this picture was taken some idiot vandalized a statue of St. Augustine in the church yard.

(BTW, the hotel in the picture the priest is holding is the Outrigger Prince Kuhio).

This is the view to the right.  The tall building just right of center is the Aston Pacific Monarch where we were to stay on our next two trips.

Lunch was being served in the "Voyager's Club" just as we arrived and settled in.

Should'a used the flash...

Every evening at 6:00 there's a torch lighting ceremony on the beach and then a native runner jogs from the beach down Kalakaua Avenue lighting the torches.  The torch lighter stopped and posed just for Kalina & I.

A common sight in Hawaii… A beautiful rainbow greeted us on Monday morning.
